At Design Shanghai 2024, TUSITA invited PINWU to create the "Weaving Poetry of the Earth" design exhibition, using the debut of the new fabric WES-Knit as the medium. Through various art forms and in collaboration with designer brands FRANK CHOU COLLECTION, Weimo, and Ziinlife, the exhibition explores the limitless potential of this new fabric across multiple fields, including furniture, interior decoration, and art installations.

Designed and handcrafted by the PINWU team, the space draws from TUSITA's extensive fabric color library, featuring four sets of earth-toned hues. The installation uses a knitted loop structure, inspired by the knitting circular machine used in fabric weaving. The design concept reflects the mechanical reciprocation that weaves a soft sanctuary, creating a striking contrast between the rugged visual of industrial machinery and the soft tactile quality of the fabric. From top to bottom, the design interweaves lines into planes, with a continuous, interconnected weave.

TUSITA's fabric, made from high-precision, ultra-fine wool, is characterized by its delicate texture, warmth, and comfort. In the "Weaving Poetry of the Earth" exhibition design, Pinwu integrates TUSITA's fabric into furniture and installation design through various techniques, including weaving, twisting, quilting, padding, laser cutting, and laser engraving. This approach showcases the rich color patterns of the earth and the subtle textures of soil, creating four distinct and warm contemporary living spaces.

Each woven space in the exhibition showcases furniture pieces co-created with renowned designer brands using TUSITA’s fabric. Some pieces highlight the fabric’s pure texture and warmth with minimalist designs, while others explore innovative uses of the fabric in interior design, offering viewers a rich array of imaginative possibilities.

The wide backrest and seat, made from TUSITA’s double-sided composite fabric, provide users with a warm, embracing sense of relaxation. The same fabric covers the surface of the "Yongguang" side table, creating a streamlined edge that softens the interaction between the furniture and light. The "Jiejie" screen uses Dusit Thani’s two-tone fabric to evoke the texture of the Pacific Ocean, conveying a sense of natural calm and artistic beauty.

Pinwu has handcrafted plant installations from fabric to accentuate the natural atmosphere, creating a striking visual contrast with the geometric furniture.

The Orbit sofa, Stand coffee table, and FH05 screen create a dynamic and otherworldly space within the interwoven dark green tones, illustrating the liquid flow of soil in a moist state.

The unique double-sided knit fabric highlights a different color presentation of TUSITA’s materials. The screen’s handcrafted three-dimensional surface adds flowing textures, while the Orbit sofa’s curved design tests the fabric’s elasticity. The coffee table’s fabric-upholstered frame contrasts visually with the smooth glass top.

The furniture series created in collaboration with Ziinlife includes the Encounter Bench, Infinity Floor Lamp, and Weaving House Cat Bed.

Fabrics in Ziinlife furniture highlights soil's unique textures. Pinwu Design Studio has created a custom woven wrap for the Encounter Bench with three-dimensional cutting, reflecting the earth’s surface. The Infinity Floor Lamp creates a warm, soothing atmosphere with light diffused through the soft wool fabric. The Weaving House Cat Bed uses colorful wool yarn woven into wooden strips, creating a unique, cozy space for cats.

The celestial installation designed and crafted by Pinwu hangs above Ziinlife's themed space. The surface of the celestial bodies is quilted to mimic an uneven texture, adding a whimsical and creative touch to the space.

The space created by the Piao Chair and CLOUD Sofa reflects Pinwu Design Team's contemplation of how people interact with and transform the land.

The prototype is inspired by Pinwu Design's Piao Chair, which is made from paper. Lead designer Chris repurposed fabric scraps to cover the chair, blending the earth’s raw texture with unique qualities of human civilization. The fabric tubes, based on a traditional bamboo chair frame, form a cloud-like seating. Additionally, an art installation inspired by bamboo shoots from Qingshan Village adds lively lines and a fresh, natural feel to the space.

In addition to the four home spaces, the exhibition also features products made from TUSITA fabric, including footwear and clothing. Additionally, post-processing samples are displayed, showcasing further production and application possibilities of TUSITA fabric. These samples include both industrial techniques and handcrafted creations, as well as unique patterns and material combinations, aiming to expand visitors' imagination.

"Weaving Poetry of the Earth" tells the story of a material that can be freely imagined and turned into viable products. Just as the vast earth and fine soil present endless variations in different states, TUSITA fabric reveals limitless possibilities across various applications.
